I have a DELL E20 running a Intel Core 2 Quad E6600 that I am trying to overclock using ClockGen. I already upgraded my PSU, RAM, etc in this machine, and am fairly well under temps that would cause problems for this proc, so I am sure the system can handle it, if I can only get ClockGen to work. So far, from following Starless' steps found online ( to overclock his DELL, I have found that I need to run ClockGen, go to PLL Setup, 'read clocks', change the IC value (OD) to (1A), then apply and re-fetch clock data.

That works no problem (see attached screenshot). Then since my IC data is almost identical to his (only different by the (DF) value seen in the screenshot from his), I am trying the PLL settings listed under 'SLG505YC56D' (with 'Ignore GSB/PCI' checkd) so that I can use the PLL control application to step up the FSB clock. The problem is that as soon as I up the clock by even 1hz, and hit apply, the system locks. This indicates to me that the PLL I am using is wrong, or I am going about the unlock step incorrectly for my board.

To my knowledge no one has ever sucessfully used ClockGen on a DELL E520, which may be a sign, but I am interested in trying all possibilities, because I have no hardware options, and equipment that is ripe for OC'ing. Any help would be greatly apprieciated. Thanks, Mike (cantedview).
