I recently received Focusrite 2nd Gen Scarlett 2i2 Studio and it is very buggy in FL Studio 12.4; it makes crackling noises while the playback pointer in the DAW glitches frequently and upon some inspection it seems that the drivers are the ones at fault since this does not happen to any other driver I have.
I've double checked and I indeed installed the 2nd Gen driver for my product- I have also plugged it in a 3.0 USB Port. My setup looks fine for the most part, although it seems it has stopped functioning properly just these past few days; everytime I want to record my Scarlett microphone I'd have to turn on the 48V button because there is no sound without it and it starts to clip violently even when there is not much gain input on it, which is troublesome because the volume is really low- too low to match the voice with the instrumentals.
System specs: i5 4690k, gtx 970, asuz z97-a, 8gb ram edit: I meant 'crackling' as the glitching of my DAW because of the drivers, not the latency- there is no CPU overload going on. So far I get minimum delay from my mic to PC but the pointer of FL Studio disappears and flickers every second. The numbers seem to get funny as well as they keep changing rapidly. It is strange. It's very odd since there is no sound coming from the input unless I turn on the 48v button- absolutely none. It wasn't acting like this before and it is quite disappointing really.
I use the built in Studio microphone which is supposedly a condenser mic. My windows 10 is also updated and so are my drivers. Edit: What I mean by crackling is not that it's freezing at all. The latency is OK and there is no delay. It's just that the pointer of FL Studio disappears, does not go to the right order, and numbers seem to get bizzare as they keep changing rapidly. I also noticed that this only happens with the Focusrite ASIO driver. Never, never, ever plug the 2i2 into anything but a USB 2.0 port.
Bootcamp mac for free. It says so right in the manual. The crackling is because your buffer size is too small for the amount of data you're pushing. If you are just recording, you can get away with smaller buffers. If you're recording -and- overdubbing with the sound coming to headphones through the interface, you'll need a bigger buffer size.
