Not fixed by the update. I consider it more than a minor inconvenience as I have to mark all my Yahoo emails unread and then read to keep the badge clear, multiple times a day. It is only happening on my Yahoo account, not on my Exchange account. For those still having this problem, can you post what email account?

It turns out that Yahoo just did a major overhaul as well so this could be on their end. The controls in Yahoo mail kind of suck, with little control over how deleted emails are managed, etc.

How to get rid of a stuck unread message badge on OS X Posted on July 16, 2015 by LucaTNT Having our messages (iMessage and SMS) available on our Macs is great, however sometimes we get an unread badge that can’t seem to go away, no matter how hard we look for the unread message, it is just not there 1.

So if you're having this problem, what email client are you using? I downloaded the free Yahoo Mail app. It does NOT exhibit this behavior. It syncs with both my Mac and my iPad, and even syncs with the iPhone mail app. But the mail app is still showing unread messages when there aren't any there. Avast security for mac download. I hate to have to use two different apps, but my Exchange account works perfectly on the phone. Because Yahoo just made a major update as well, I'm not sure where the problem is.

The Gmail problem that was described is NOT the same thing, because when I mark all emails as unread, then as read, the unread messages that aren't there disappear from the badge and from the list of messages in both accounts. I'm still thinking my problem is limited to Yahoo; if a lot of people were having this on other accounts there would be a lot more posts about it.

I recently had this same issue with my Office 365 Outlook 2013. Created a new folder, moved several items from my inbox (and another folder) to the new folder. Once they were moved to the new folder I marked all the unread emails as read. A rule was modified to automatically move inbox emails to the new folder. After all this I had unread emails but there were none. Tried 'Cleanview' but it did nothing but reset all my views to default.

Still had the same number of unread emails. The fix that worked for me was to log into my office 365 portal and go to my webmail.

There I found all my emails marked read on my outlook were actually unread on webmail. After marking all the unread emails as read in webmail everything updated on my outlook and problem is fixed.
