Hello I'm looking for a 27' monitor that I can use with my 2014 Macbook Pro, and my wife can use with her company HP laptop. Would be nice to have something that can be easily swapped over around. Doesn't need to be anything 'professional', but I've been using an Apple 27' thunderbolt display, so something of that quality would be nice.While there are lots of 'comparison' and 'review' Web sites, few of them can be trusted because many are shill sites. I'm considering getting the monitor LG 27UD68 for my MacBook Pro to replace my Thunderbolt display which is constantly blacking out. But I'm concerned my Mac may be too old. I bought it in 2011. I've attached an image of the system info for the Thunderbolt bus.
Would the LG 27UD68 work on my Mac? The LG has a variety of inputs including HDMI and MiniDisplayPort. It should work with no problem on your 2011 MBP. I'd make sure to purchase from a store with a no-questions-asked return policy. Also, nothing wrong with a bit of price matching.

Problem with display: monitor goes dim except for two bright lights emanating from bottom of screen - each about 2.5 inches in length. Starting about center of bottom of monitor near HP logo and then along the bottom for 5 inches toward the left edge. They appear like a headlight across the left side of the screen. The rest of the monitor display is dim. The HP My Display app does not appear to have any effect by changing brightness, contrast or HP Enhance+ modes.
The only option that has a momentary effect is to select factory default preset, but then for less than 2 seconds before the screen reverts to the headlight mode. I am using an HP desktop 550-050.
