Office 2016 for Mac: Installation was an unexpected hassle. When customers dread installing your software, you've got some serious problems. David Gewirtz has some complaints.

PowerPoint is fine but I cannot save new or edited files in Word or Excel. I get the following note when I first start Excel: ' View Only Your Account *** Email address is removed for privacy *** does not allow editing on a Mac. To learn more, contact your Admin.' I am in IBM and several thousand other folks don't seem to have an issue saving documents in Word or Excel and Lord only knows if we have an Admin. We all got access to the same version of Office 365.there is no reason mine would have been View Only Please advise Donnie. Hi donnie, please firstly access to check if there is “ the latest desktop version of office”. If not, it means you don’t have the license for office applications. You need to contact your company it or admin for assigning you the related license.

If you have the related license, do you see other error messages that ask you to activate the office applications (when the applications are open, on the top of blank page)? If yes, please capture a screenshot of it. To post a picture, click use rich formatting>insert/edit media icon in the thread page. Java 6 for mac os x. If there is a use another account button, you may click it and enter your work/school account again to see the result. Moreover, what do you mean by “we all got access to the same version of office 365”? Do it install the applications for you or you install it from? Best regards, tim.

I am with IBM so, we have our own 'App Store' and everyone downloads the same version of Office.there is only 1 available install.and everyone with an IBM owned device gets the same license. I clicked the url you provided and it took me to the IBM version of what you meant.I do not have an Insert/Edit Media Icon to insert the screen grab.but it does say 'The latest Desktop Version of Office' Finally, when I start Excel, I get a notice that I think is a clue to what is wrong: View Only: your account donnied@us**om (Info marked by Moderator)does not allow editing on a Mac to learn more, contact your admin about your Office Plan There is no Admin that I can find who knows what to do. Looks somewhat different from my problem. I don't get an authentication error dialog box and I can open my doc from the Downloads folder just fine. But I'm on a Mac if that matters. I no longer see Microsoft Word listed as an option. (See attached screen grab) It's not browser specific (behaves the same in Chrome and Safari).

I've updated Box Edit and checked to make sure that Word is my computer's default word processing app. It's actually ALL of my Microsoft Office apps. Hi All, Thank you all for contributing to this forum post and actively engaging in Box's Community.
