It does indeed look like Outlook 2016 for Mac (included in Office 365 for Mac) supports Exchange 2010, but it needs to be Exchange 2010 SP3; this means previous Exchange 2010 versions might or might not work, but they are not supported. As a side note, if your Exchange 2010 is not already at SP3 level, I strongly suggest you upgrade it, and also apply the latest available update rollup (currently UR12, but see ); running outdated software is almost never a good idea.

Hi I have just learned after installing Outlook for Mac 2016 that it won't connect to any exchange server older than 2010, My exchange server is through the biggest telco in New Zealand Telecom (now Spark) Business Hub. Its server is 2007 (can you believe that?) so I cannot now get my emails on my MacBook. Can't understand why Microsoft would put such an arbitrary limit on exchange servers 6 years old or more. Can't understand why our biggest telco has a server that old either. So check the date of your exchange server before buying Office for Mac 2016. I can have an pop or imap account apparently but I've heard that these are not suitable for my MacBook and my business.

Can anyone advise on pluses and minuses of both and which I should get if either??? If you haven't dumped outlook 2011 yet, and it works with you provider's System I'd suggest using it for now. Then, If you're a business, I would get on the horn (telephone, or ever how you stay in touch with provider) and let them know. About this change and suggest that they need to upgrade.
